New BBQ table for Collier Reserve, Greytown

Take a stroll down West Street in Greytown and you’ll soon find a new spot to take the weight off your feet at Collier Reserve, with Planalytics’ donation of a BBQ table.

Collier Reserve has come a long way since its days as the Greytown Volunteer Fire Brigade training ground. Today it is a beautiful, tranquil place but somewhat under-utilised. We wanted to donate something useful to the space and boost the reserve’s use. The trees surrounding the spot where the new BBQ table will go include English oaks, ash, and horse chestnut; and with some standing at over 22 metres, they create a calm and shady oasis just a few hundred metres from the centre of town. We even have our eyes on the spot as a ‘windowless’ meeting space. The benefits of holding meetings outdoors are well documented, and given that the reserve is just around the corner from our offices on Main Street, we’ll be getting out in nature as often as we can.

We first approached South Wairarapa District Council about the donation in December 2019, and we’d like to thank them for their positive response and support. We hope that Greytown residents and visitors enjoy using the BBQ table and that other local businesses take the initiative and contribute to the wellbeing of our community in a similar way. It’s not just up to council to make our town great, it is up to all of us.
